REPUBLICAN HEALTH CARE BILLS (IGNORED)

You can see from the date that these bills were introduced a long time back. It was always said that there was never a alternative to ObamaCare but as you can see there were, they were simply ignored by Reid as usual.

and there are three other healthcare bills.

No one is discussing theses proposals, it’s almost as if they don’t exist.

In May, Republicans in the House and the Senate formed a bicameral coalition to produce the130-page “Patients Choice Act of 2009.”

In June, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced the “Health Care Freedom Plan,” a 41-page proposal.

Ron Paul’s bill was a NO HEALTH CARE bill that regurgitates the Republican mantra " No help for the poor." It was a bill to make sure government DOES NOTHING for citizens.
    “Full Title

To protect the American people’s ability to make their own health care decisions by ensuring the Federal Government shall not force any American to purchase health insurance."

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-2629
    .
Yup, I read the entire 130-page “Patients Choice Act of 2009.”
    H. R. 2520 / S 1099
Which was submitted to show that Republicans can make a much shorter bill (only most of the pages refer to other bills.)
The heart of that bill was to provide vouchers to patients the next year after they submitted their taxes so they could use the tax savings to pay for health care.
IN NO WAY was it a bill to help low-paid workers, as they wouldn’t be taxed enough to provide ANY money to be applied the next year. It’s a bill to help well-paid workers get health care they already got.
    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR02520:@@@P
    .
Democrats might like the DeMint plan; but I doubt Republicans would; which is why they though he was nuts.
    .
“The plan, basically, is for the federal government to give out annual vouchers to Americans which they can spend on any health care insurance offering they want: $2000 dollars for individuals, and up to $5000 for families. …
How, you might wonder, could the U.S. government offer a $5000 health care voucher to every uninsured American family without adding a dime to the deficit? The answer is brilliant: Pay for the program with TARP money! Yes, “The Health Care Freedom Plan” is paid for by requiring banks to pay back all their TARP money within five years, and then use that money for the vouchers.”
    http://www.salon.com/2009/06/23/demint_health_care_plan/
    .
After the TARP money runs out what then … $3000 to 40 million low-paid workers each year – which is 120 billion dollars [1.2 trillion over ten years]?
    OR
most likely, they would all have insurance for one year where they can be dropped if they get sick, meaning they already have insurance, so they’re dropped in one year.
    .
The Empowering Patients First Act is a regurgitation of the Patients Choice Act of 2009 with more text, It depends on the worker making enough money to have a significant amount of tax returns. As a person making $18000 a year has a possible tax of $1800, there is little money to buy a policy for a family, and again there’s no wording about being dropped if one gets sick, no lifetime limits, nor pre-conditions. The worker that needed care the most would be left out to save the profit of the insurance company.
    .
For purposes of this section, the term `credit percentage’ means 100 percent reduced by 1 percentage point for each $1,000 (or fraction thereof) by which the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income for the taxable year exceeds the threshold amount.
    .
MONTHLY LIMITATION- The monthly limitation for any month is the credit percentage of 1/12 of the sum of—

`(A) $2,000 for coverage of the taxpayer ($4,000 in the case of a joint return for coverage of the taxpayer and the taxpayer’s spouse), and `(B) $500 for coverage of each dependent of the taxpayer.

Not more than 2 dependents of the taxpayer may be taken into account
    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c111:1:./temp/~c1113crSqj:e8294:
    .
That’s why readers can’t take Republicans nor avaman seriously – no long-term nor deep thought processes.

They really aren’t an alternative to Obamacare; just half-efforts to look good while the low-paid worker continues to get screwed.

I got the biggest moan from the Empowering Patients First Act section on Medicaid.
If there are many workers who can afford family insurance (usually they making more than $40,000 a year so they have significant taxes to deduct) then the Act will reduce Medicaid for the welfare adults, children and parents.
      .
      " (b) Medicaid DSH Reductions-

      (1) IN GENERAL- If there is a significant decrease in the national rate of uninsurance as a result of this Act (as determined under section 1221(a)(2)(A)), then the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall reduce Medicaid DSH so as to reduce total Federal payments to all States for such purpose by $1,500,000,000 in fiscal year 2015, $2,500,000,000 in fiscal year 2016, and $6,000,000,000 in fiscal year 2017."

After all that you still missed the point. ObamaCare was rammed down everybody’s throat regardless of the fact that the majority in this country did not want anything to do with it. It was passed on a straight democrat ticket. The Republican bills were never brought to the floor for discussion, for amendments, for a vote. The people of this country never even got to hear an argument concerning them, that isn’t right. What happened wasn’t right. The lies from the democrats that the Republicans NEVER offered anything was not right.

Do you have healthcare insurance? If so then of course your against Obamacare…
You feel you have nothing to gain and everything to lose.
If you don’t then you’d LOVE it. Seeing how you can finally go to the doctor when your sick without being forced to either go without or skip paying a bill to see one.

      “rammed down everybody’s throat "
      .
man but you are a funny fuck
the term RAMMED implies forcefully and with expedience
so how long have you imbeciles been attempting to fight this?
      (and still drag it out)
why almost as long as you’ve been attempting to say that uppity nigger was a muslim
      that’s how long
      no expedience there
now as for the forceful part
seems your insurance company’s are still in the mix
obviously there was relenting in this
      so no
      not forcible either
      .

I have a very good question for you. Seeing how your under the opinion Obamacare is so bad. Would you please provide evidence proving that Obamacare, as your fellow haters have stated, is going to destroy our country.
I’m not looking for opinions…I’ve heard more then I can handle. I want evidence..if you can’t provide that then I’ll be happy with you providing a logical well reasoned agurement.

        true

stated this that or the other
        however…they were found out
        and in the meantime
no canuck wants it taken away
we’d fight tooth and nail to keep

        1. geargrinder2012

You maybe correct…however I do enjoy giving them the opportunity to prove otherwise.
If they make the attempt then it may lead to a wonderful debate on the merit of said issue. If they don’t then their proven to be expressing opinions while having no substance to support said opinion. Either way it’s a win win situation for me.

If you can not see with your own eyes what is and has been happening to businesses everywhere, cutting back , laying people off, people being reduced to part time needing to find additional work to try and make up the loss. Hospitals cutting back. The Cleveland Clinic Obama was using for a photo op is laying off, I’ll let you discover how many. With layoffs, reduction in hours, loss of fulltime benefits, people are hurting. Without the necessary income people will lose their homes, the evidence of what you refuse to see is all about you. You have heard of the saying, you can see the forest for the trees.. you profess to have great intelligence, I implore you to use it.

All you’ve presented to me is evidence of company’s protecting their profits. Further more, company’s have been doing this
things you presented even before Obamacare.
Please explain why is it anything that would decrease the profit margin of companies, raising minimum wages, increase in taxes, unions, enacting laws to protect worker or enviroment etc etc is always opposed by Conservatives? Even now we have a program that will allow everyone to have health protection and your main concern isn’t the idea there are those that are sick and can’t afford to see a doctor, no your main concern is company’s profit margin taking a hit. Lets forget the fact the well off’s wealth is ever increasing while those at the bottom are losing more and more.
One more point I wsh to make….the layoffs and reduction in hours etc etc arn’t only the result of Obamacare…..as I stated it’s been happening before Obamacare, in the name of increasing the profit margin.
Would you also say company’s are moing overseas for the same reason, because of Obamcare?

The ACA was passed by the MAJORITY party. That means the party with the most votes. Somehow he can’t understand that passing a bill by the majority doesn’t mean NOBODY wants it. It’s a brain problem.

      September 21, 2013
      1. avaman

The term “tyranny of the majority” shows itself well in this instance

Benjamin Franklin said “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.” The lamb represents the people.

So why did they, the Founding Father’s, reject Democracy? Because it is inherently flawed with the share the wealth philosophy, which only works as long as there is someone else’s money to share. Those receiving are quite pleased with getting something for nothing. But those forced to give are denied the right to spend the benefits of their own labor in their own self-interest.

It is supposed to be government of, by, and for the people. The government deriving its authority from the people. The majority of people in this country do not want it. Elected politicians are pushing against the people. The people are simply pushing back.

Stop repeating silly statements. That each bill had an HR number, and some had an S number, and can be found in the record means that they were put up for consideration. They were touted by their authors, the Congressmen. That they were so silly and inadequate with so many flaws meant that they paled in comparison to better bills, so weren’t forwarded by either leader for further consideration.
            .
They were referred to Congress, died in committee, so were not enacted by either party.

            .
You can repeat as many times as you like that people with health care insurance don’t need or want health care for anyone else; but that doesn’t stop people with Christian conscience (which doesn’t include you) from making law to help the working poor have health insurance.

“As the country gears up for implementation of the major provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), this month’s Kaiser Health Tracking Poll takes a step back and examines views on health insurance more broadly among some key subgroups, including young adults, the uninsured, and those with pre-existing conditions. The poll finds that the large majority of Americans want and value health insurance. More than seven in ten young adults – a special focus of outreach and enrollment efforts – say it is very important to them personally to have insurance. Cost remains the biggest barrier for the uninsured, with four in ten citing the expense of coverage as the main reason they don’t have it.
