You really don’t smuggle that much stuff without some of the authorities looking the other way.

As someone who lives close enough to the border for these things to really matter…let me tell you I’ve clocked it. Every 16 minutes trains are running in and out of mexico. Empty in, full out and all day and night long. I know this because I have a 140 year old farm house with lead windows and live 6 blocks from the train tracks. This doesn’t include the semi trucks hauling down I35 at all times. We don’t even need to fret about that open border -there are much more efficient ways for havoc to be wreaked. I lived in Mexico with my family for a few months to establish citizenship…Mexican officials are corrupt af and down here that line in the sand (or river as it were) doesn’t change a person’s character from one side to the other NO matter what emblem is on his shirt. It’s just funny to me that a New Yorker thinks a piece of paper signed by a bunch of suits is going to change a single thing. Down here it’s redneck politics on both sides of that river-money makes the rules. Always has. Always will. Giant fence or not.

There’s a lake my family used to go to, this lake straddles the border. Then it used to be a family place for both nationalities. Now innocent non locals are shot in the head for thinking it’s a recreational lake, it’s a business lake. It’s just known that is where a person looking for large amounts of drugs goes. Tell me there aren’t people appointed to see this doesn’t happen on both sides. Hmmm…wonder where they are and why they don’t care?$? lol, sorry—you just hit a sore spot. Tightening that thing up will be real interesting to watch.
