WARNING

You will not be anonymous at Thinkr.xyz

Your IP is attached to your comments.

This can pinpoint your home, down to the street address & the physical location of your router.

With your IP address any one can look up your IP & get your Lat/Long coords,

From there your address is easily obtained on Google maps, a quick reverse look-up for the address yields the name of the owner & often times anyone who's gotten mail there since the advent of the internet. Name & address fetches a phone number far too easily.

I suggest that those who seek to use the new site consider investing in an IP spoofer & using it.

Sweet Jesus it's giving out people's addresses. That doesn't look like a big deal until you think about some of the women & girls here.

A VPN & an orphan eMail account will shield you if you feel it’s worth the effort.

        No reason for that either.

lol shadowstarzzz…it doesn’t affect the privacy in any way or form.

Yeah it does. An IP address can be mapped to lat/long down to a few feet. Using a VPN & an unattached eMail is your only privacy when your eMail & IP are shared to anyone you may comment.

Look, in real life you use VLR?

You have to be a lot smarter to get my home address from my cell phone pinging a tower. With an IP stuck to your comment any idiot can look you up with IP Trace for free.

I just posted a reply to your comment at thinkr and I’ll do it here as well, in case you don’t go back. It was to suggest using VPN. There are free VPN choices if all you intend to do is blog, and there are paid VPN providers that give you a lot more flexibility and anonymity. I use VPN for all internet usage.

That’s basically the same idea as IP spoofing. A different mask.

Nice I sincerely doubt you are at the Convention Center in Phoenix.

& while I’m pretty sure I can buy your name & a lot more using your eMail (they post your email address with your comments) the only free information I got was an old forum post about Epson All-in-Ones & Mac OS. I just don’t like it at all, it’d require a lot more effort than I am willing to put into switching. It’s been nice knowing you.

Nope. Email is an alias too. You can make your name anything you want for gmail, icloud, hotmail, yahoo… The days of assigned email are long gone. I doubt there’s anything at all that, until now, could even connect FUall to dyrtyredd, let alone get anywhere near me. I don’t think that link exists. If it does I’ll simply have to burn that persona for good and move on… or not.

So does this mean you’re out for good? I read somewhere on thinkr where Ben wrote something to the effect that the servers hosting thought will not be, sometime soon. What will you do when thoughts finally exhales it’s last breath? Is VPN so much effort, really? The free ones are generally pretty shitty for regular internet usage, but if all you intended to do was blog they would probably be sufficient.

And while we’re at it…. check your messages…

Yeah I checked, I think I am out. It’s been on my mind for awhile & this seems like a good bookmark point. No a VPN wouldn’t be that much work, I just don’t think I’m interested enough anymore to make it worth it. I think I need to invest more effort elsewhere. Talking shit about shit IS fun, but it’s also a waste of effort at this point. No one is on the web looking to debate & discuss, they want affirmation & the echo chamber. The few who do, do not need my council.

I’m sorry to hear that, but I absolutely understand the sentiment. I have that same debate internally almost every day. I suppose it will be for me as it was before. Wait and see. See who shows up. Who begins new. See if there’s anything at all interesting that makes the effort worth the while. I have reservations about the ease at which conversations take place there and don’t really like the look and feel of the interface. That “comfort” is a really big deal to me.
            .
Well, I suppose I’ll take this opportunity to say farewell and good fortune, in case there is no time later before the thoughts.com servers go offline. Thanks for intelligent debate, honest dialog, and some rather interesting and fascinating ideas. Your words have made an impact on my thoughts and beliefs on numerous occasions, and I thank you for those… for making me think and see things from another perspective.

and so what?…we are talking about wordpress, it’s how it works, nothing bad with that. I don’t see any reason for this warning.

You see no reason to warn people that their home address is attached to their comments? Well you are entitled to your opinion, I have my own about it.

I fully agree that this is a security risk, especially in this crazy time of BLM and Antifa freaks, etc…
